Distance: 19 miles (13 miles for the 6 bridge ride + 6 miles from home and back)
Every year, Portland has the Bridge Pedal event where you can ride your bike across up to 10 of the city’s bridges. I chose to do the 6 bridge ride with a group of three other riders. Since I’m new-again to biking, I practiced riding for longer distances over the last couple of weeks so I’d be up to a ride of this length. We went over the Hawthorne, Ross Island, Marquam, Burnside, Broadway and Fremont bridges. The Marquam and Fremont bridges are the highest by far and normally bikes are not allowed on them, so it was great to have a chance to ride across them. I had such a great time… I hope to do this again and again.
