Location: Mount Hood Wilderness
Distance: 6.5 miles
Elevation Gain: 1,500 ft.
This is a hike to the summit of Tom Dick Mountain via Mirror Lake, which is about 1-1/2 miles in and has a campground and picnic areas. The views of Mount Hood are amazing… we got our first good view in the forest, and then from the top you are right next to Mount Hood. It was a clear day and we could also see Mount Adams, Mount St. Helens and Mount Jefferson. The forest is drier than the coastal forests we are more often hiking in… it changes quite a bit near the top and there were wild huckleberries everywhere. The approach to the summit is rocky and a little bit of scramble, but not too much.
