This trail goes through old-growth forest and runs along the Salmon River the entire length. There was a little bit of snow is spots and it was in the low 40s, so it was a little cold, but not bad. The forest and river are very beautiful… there are ferns and moss everywhere, but it looks very different from the Gorge or the Coastal Mountains. We passed a cedar tree that is about 10 ft. in circumference and there are several interesting trees with hollowed-out spots at the base. You have to ford a creek at one point, which was harder than I thought it would be due to the slippery nature of the rocks in the water.
