Silver Star Mountain via Grouse Vista hike

Distance: 9.7 miles
Elevation gain: 2,900 feet
Note that the mileage and elevation gain are from my GPS tracks but don’t match trail descriptions in hiking guidebooks.

There are five main trails to Silver Star Mountain, and the most popular is the Silver Star North (and Ed’s Trail) trailhead, but the road is one of worst I’ve ever driven, so this time, we started at the south side of Silver Star via the Grouse Vista trailhead. The drive is half as long, and the roads are fine for passenger cars. Note that a┬áDiscover Pass is required to park here. The trail is not as interesting as the trail from the north, and is steep and rocky, but it does get you to the same destination as the other trails, so to me, it’s a good trade. We went to both high points at Silver Star and took the trail to the Indian Pits on the way back. (more info about the Indian Pits)
