Starting at the Wahkeena Falls trailhead, we hiked up to the source of Wahkeena Creek, a spring that comes up out of the ground and then cascades down the hillside as a creek. To get there, hike up to the junction with the Angels Rest trail and about 200 feet ahead is the spring. This is a great spot to stop for a long break. From there, we hiked to the upper junction with the Vista Ridge trail. This trail runs along the top of a ridge, switchbacks a few times, and crosses a small creek just before the trail connects back to the Wahkeena Trail.
